Many colonies suffered from poor soil quality but the New York colony didn't. It had ideal soil for farming and agriculture. They had very good and healthy cattle that god graze freely. They grew a lot of grain which they traded with English colonies. They also had large amounts of rice and indigo. This was very good for the Dutch but also very bad because the English heard about it and decided to take it from them. But for the time that the Dutch had New York they were very successful from the trade and interaction between them and the Native Americans. They had a lot of iron work that was very profitable and they were very successful making ships.
